The Paris sales
The season of good deals starts on 6 January 2010: get set! From the Grands Boulevards to Avenue Montaigne and Saint Germain to the Marais, you’ll find irresistible buys at reduced prices: 20% off, 50% off, 70% off! Work out a sales strategy: clever shoppers will make a beeline on the very first day for that one-of-a-kind item at a price they can finally afford and wait until later to stock up on basics at giveaway prices.
Clothes, shoes, accessories as well as furniture, decorative objects, cosmetics and more: for five whole weeks, Parisian chic is within everyone’s reach!
Fashionistas take note: on the occasion of the official launch of the winter sales, Paris, the shopping capital, is pulling out all the stops with a new edition of Soldes by Paris. The operation is being organised for the fourth year in a row by the Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau in collaboration with the Paris delegation of the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the City of Paris and Atout France.
From 6 to 9 January 2010, shops, cultural sites and service providers will be taking part in the operation with a host of special offers for customers: longer opening hours, special tokens of attention and privileges. Paris will be rolling out the red carpet for residents and visitors once again this year!
Visitors from outside the European Union are offered a 12% tax refund in addition to special offers during the sales.
Besides our main welcome centre on Rue des Pyramides a stone’s throw from the Louvre and Opera Garnier, the Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau has four other centres in different areas of the capital: Gare de l'Est, Gare de Lyon, Gare du Nord, Anvers.
Our welcome points
Everything is in place to make life easier for shoppers in January 2010! Pick up a copy of our indispensable free guide, the “Paris Shopping Book 2010”, at any of our welcome centres. There will be a special window display at our main centre on Rue des Pyramides to celebrate the sales, with one-off events being organised (see info on the “cyclobulles” below).
From 6 to 9 January 2010, nearly 300 hotels, restaurants and cultural places, united by the Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau, participate to the event Soldes by Paris and offer visitors advantageous suggestions. Exclusive privileges to live a dream holiday without complex!
On your marks, get set, go! MasterCard holders are well aware that a premium credit card gives you an advantage when you’re shopping for that special something, especially when it comes with exclusive offers!
The busiest shopping districts in the capital are also taking part in the operation and will be celebrating the sales by getting together to organise an action and surprise-packed programme of events in tandem with the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The key to successful shopping is knowing where to go. For the second year in a row, 50 multilingual students of the l’Institut de la Conciergerie internationale will be taking part in the Soldes by Paris operation to share their insider knowledge of the city with visitors. Little-known addresses, smart itineraries and practical information: the itinerant concierges can provide these details and more. You’ll find them in all the festive districts of the capital.
Light, fast, ‘green’ and stylish, the “cyclobulles” are an appealing means of transport. No more wearing your feet out window-shopping: you can sit back comfortably in one of these electric tricycles and forget about the traffic and tired feet.
From 6 to 9 January, five chauffeur-driven tricycles will be available to all from 2pm to 5m each day in front of the Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau at 25 Rue des Pyramides. Try this fun and green way to tour the shopping itineraries!
The “Paris Shopping Book” compiles more than 300 addresses of shops, restaurants, hotels and cultural sites, divided into themed itineraries. Entertaining and easy to use, the 2010 edition of the Shopping Book is available in “his” and “hers” versions and includes two new itineraries: “Savvy”, a list of good deals to be had in Paris, and the itinerary drawn up by the event’s ambassador Jean-Claude Jitrois, who has included his top picks and favourite places.
The “Paris Shopping Book” will be available from 2 January 2010 at:
. All participating shops & hotels
. The Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau welcome centres
. At the Guest Relations’ points
